Patient recovery story
25 year-old male who had a hard landing while playing basketball 1 month prior to his clinic visit
He immediately had subsequent neck pain, bilateral arm weakness/pain, and numbness/tingling lasting 15-20min which spontaneously/completely resolved. Pre-operatively, episodes were increasing in frequency; initially only occurring with neck movements, but progressing to occur spontaneously while at rest.
Pre-op MRI with C5/6 disc herniation, subsequent canal compression, and evidence of spinal cord injury.
Patient underwent C5/6 Artificial Disc Replacement and was discharged the next morning.
Post-operatively he has been doing excellent with complete resolution of symptoms, and was so grateful that he decided to spoil the office staff!
